The King of the River is a large semi abstract landscape oil painting of a kingfisher flying along a riverbank lined by wildflowers. It is 36x48x1.5 inches. The style is contemporary and art nouveau and is very colourful. The inspiration for this painting was a walk I took last summer along the banks of the River Ouse near Barcombe, Sussex. It was my first sighting of a kingfisher and it made me very happy to see it. The edges of the river were lined with plants and flowers in all colours and the water glittered and twinkled between the stems. The other side of the river was the same except one field that was full of mostly buttercups so was bright yellow. It was a joyful day and I tried to show this feeling and the sheer abundance of life and nature. This painting is dedicated to everyone who is currently on lock-down during the corona-virus. Things will get better! Painted on deep edge canvas, edges white, ready to hang, frame no needed.
