Original artwork description
The Invitation is a large seascape oil painting of a view from the beach across the waves to the sun and sky and seagulls beyond. It is 36x60x1.5 inches. The painting is ethereal, semi-abstract and a little art-nouveau in style and the light and energy of the scene is captured in thick expressive brush strokes. Gentle waves roll over the sand captured in impasto paint in muted whites, creams, yellows and purples. The sun can be seen from behind clouds and three beams of light form a triangle on the sea. Three seagulls fly between them. I had fun with the composition of this seascape and am very pleased with the result. It aims to capture the energy and transience of sunlight, sea and sky plus a little bit of mystery as it seems to hint at something not quite articulated. It was inspired by watching Florida skies where the sunsets and sunrises are always entertaining. The three seagulls are flying away which helps to add to the invitation to go beyond… Painted on deep edge canvas, edges white, ready to hang and no frame needed. Comes with certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
