Original artwork description
A commission. A modern take on the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
The decaying rider on the left is Extinction, not merely Death but the death of all species consumed by our inability to limit our destructive behaviour. If we can’t then we will surely follow them into extinction since we depend on their existence for our own wellbeing.
Next is Environmental Destruction, the rider is fragmenting even as it travels, symbolising the degradation of the conditions that sustain life.
Then comes War, armed to the teeth as always throughout mankind’s bloody history.
Finally the all consuming Uncontrolled Capitalism. If not fettered by controls then this rider will greedily rampage through everything that stands in it’s way for short term gain, casting aside all care and consideration of human beings and the planet.
Behind them is the apocalyptic sky that hangs over London.
