I have always collected vintage items which catch my eye and recently I have become interested in 'Assemblage' as an art form - putting together found objects to create a unique artwork, a kind of 3D collage.
This pieces brings together various vintage sewing related items. A paper-mache horse is decorated with old sewing patterns and advertisements. Heart-topped pins form her mane. She has a thimble muzzle and a tail of old sewing threads. She stands proudly on a moveable chariot adorned with bobbin and button flowerpots and a French sewing magazine dating from the 1950s. It is truly one of a kind as many of the items are decades old and almost impossible to replace.
