Original artwork description:

The two hundredth anniversary of the birth of Charles Baudelaire (Paris 1821 - 1867) inspired me to create his portrait. He was one of the most important poets of the 19th century and beyond, a key exponent of Symbolism, an unruly genius, and for this reason referred to as the “cursed poet,” understood as a deeply tragic figure in search of an unattainable inner peace. In this work, created on cardboard, I wanted to capture the essence of torment and emotional complexity. With each pencil stroke, I sought an intense expression that would speak directly to the viewer's soul. Realism and expressionism come together to reveal human depth; universal feelings are reflected in the penetrating and enigmatic gaze of the subject. This art evokes an emotional dialogue, an invitation to reflect on the challenges and beauty of human existence. By bringing it into your home, dynamism and passion blend with the environment, adding a dimension of introspection and inspiration.
