This artwork displays a vivid Amsterdam evening scene, full of warmth and movement. The canvas portrays the city’s distinctive canal‑side architecture with expressive brushwork and saturated colour.
The tall, narrow brick façades with ornate Dutch gables and large windows are unmistakably Amsterdam. The façades lean off-centre, a characteristic feature of 17th‑century canal houses in the historic old centre of the city.
The glowing streetlamp in the foreground anchors the artwork, casting a golden light that contrasts with the deep blue sky.
Texture has been added to create extra depth. The canvas is 0.5 inches deep and can therefore hang without a frame if wished.
