Original artwork description
The Artists garden
Spring into Summer,
Painting on the deck,
Taking it all in,
Flowers bursting out,
Spiky yucca and the yellow gate.
Words and expression of my recent experience painting outside in my back garden. I just had to capture the shapes and patterns of nature and my oasis that I have created over so many year's is always so special to me. I feel calm as I sit outside on my decking in the warm air, feeling colours and light.
Original impressionistic watercolour on extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 300gsm 140lb.
I used my Japanese watercolours and began to wet the paper lightly all over and apply the yellow first with my Chinese brush made of goats hair. I gradually introduce other colours, whilst observing the scene in a spontaneous expressive way. Dabbing, mark making and pressing paint on. I felt calm and composed during this process and thanks to my husband who was filming me plus Buster my little black Patterdale terrier just had to be part of the show.
I created an art demonstration on my YouTube channel check it out to see more.
