Artwork description
An original limited edition two-block linoprint.
This print is of a blackbird singing in the arrival of spring, surrounded by cherry blossom.
For this print, I sketched the idea in pencil first and the transferred the image to two separate lino-blocks, which I then hand-carved. The first lino-block is inked with blue ink and printed on the paper; the second lino-block is inked with green and black. As each print is individually printed in this way, there may be slight variations in tone and colour. The yellow of the beak and a light blue wash to the feathers is handpainted in watercolour once the ink has dried.
Each print has the title, edition number and my signature hand-written in pencil beneath the image. This edition is limited to 50 prints. The paper used is Somerset Satin, 300gsm.
The image size is 19x18cm and the paper size is 30x30cm.
The print is sold unframed and posted flat with a cardboard support.
