Original artwork description
The Air We Breathe explores the invisible connections that shape our lives. Trust, affection, shared memories, and everyday interactions often leave a deeper impact than we realise, quietly influencing who we become over time.
Inspired by the idea that relationships are shaped not only by words and events but also by what exists between them, the painting reflects on the emotional atmosphere people create around one another. Like the air we breathe, these connections are rarely seen, yet they sustain us, shape our experiences, and become part of our personal landscape.
Created with acrylic and natural sand, this textured abstract painting develops through layers of soft greys, whites, and charcoal tones. Flowing forms emerge and dissolve across the surface, evoking drifting currents, clouds, or shifting terrain. The textured surface interacts subtly with light, creating depth, movement, and changing visual relationships throughout the day.
Blending elements of abstract landscape painting with a reflection on human connection, the work invites a moment of pause and contemplation. It suggests a space where individual experiences meet, overlap, and gradually leave their mark on one another.
Its neutral palette and tactile surface make it well suited to contemporary interiors, bringing calm, atmosphere, and understated depth to a space.
