A scene with the immediacy of a sketch against a muted blue background. Modernist Orpheus, with a guitar like an instrument of charm, performs his song. Before him a skeleton in a toga, the embodiment of Hades, stripped of his majesty and transformed into a weary listener. An allegorical composition - music as rebellion, wit as salvation. Orpheus does not plead but performs. The painting captures the eternal adventure of descent and return, where only art dares to outwit death.
