Thaw (2003)Oil painting
by Simon Kozhin
£2,442.16
Original artwork description
In this painting, I captured the delicate transition from winter to spring using rich oil textures to convey a quiet, hopeful thaw. Blending impressionism and realism, I wanted to evoke the subtle energy of nature waking up, with gentle colors and soft light suggesting renewal. This piece brings a peaceful yet stirring calm, perfect for inviting a sense of serene reflection and the beauty of change into your space.
The thaw in spring is often accompanied by a cold snap. In fairy tales, I describe this time as a struggle between winter and spring, and spring wins the insidious winter. The time is fertile for a painter, very subtle but subtle pictorial relations..
