- Thatch and Cloth
Original artwork description
Thatch and Cloth is very special to me. It was painted from a photo taken by world famous photographer Trey Ratcliff who also happens to be a friend of mine. I was completely captivated by the expressiveness of this boy. The details in the straw hat, folds in the fabric of his shirt and the precious buttons down the center. Its creations tested me and forced me to push against the walls of the box I had unknowingly put myself into. I had reached a comfortable place in my art and hadn't been motivated to push past it. I had become stagnate in a sea of possibilities. It took the angelic face of a child to shake me into action. Because of this I put little flecks of turquoise in his eyes, a reflections of me and how he seems to stare into my soul, daring me to try.
Thatch and Cloth is 20 x 16 inches on stretched canvas. It is framed with barn wood, wired and ready to hang.
