Thames in golden hour (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Agnieszka Lokaj

30 x 30 x 2cm (unframed) / 30 x 30cm (actual image size)

£645

This painting captures the Thames at golden hour on a gusty, restless day, the river alive with shifting light and wind-driven energy. Layers of blue, lilac, and soft green build the water's surface, while blush pinks and warm gold gather in the sky above, that particular quality of late afternoon light that makes everything feel briefly suspended between day and dusk.
Across the composition, bold black calligraphic marks sweep and dart like reeds bending in the wind, or the quick gestures of birds cutting across an open sky. They are the painting's pulse, urgent and spontaneous, holding the whole scene in a state of beautiful agitation. At the centre, white and gold pigment catches the light just as the river itself would, a bright, almost breathless focal point surrounded by cooler, quieter tones.
This is not a topographical record of the Thames but an emotional one, the feeling of standing at the water's edge when the wind picks up and the light is doing something extraordinary.
