Original artwork description:

This painting captures the warmth and timeless charm of a serene moment bathed in sunlight. Using rich oil textures, I blended fine art detail with impressionist light to evoke peaceful joy and nostalgia. I wanted this scene to bring calm energy and a touch of history into your space, inviting you to pause and feel the gentle embrace of a quiet corner that whispers stories of Corfu. The Catholic Church of Carmel, located in Corfu, Greece, is a Latin church built in honor of the Virgin Mary of Tenedos in the late 15th century. Its name comes from an icon that refugee Catholic priests brought to the church of Tenedos when the Turks conquered the island after the fall of the Byzantine Empire. It once housed the Public Library, the first Public School, and the Ionian Academy. It is notable for its salmon-colored interior, unusual for churches in Greece. I painted a small sketch from plain-air in Kerkyra not far from the old fortress on a crowded street; I was remembered by hospitable people, people came up to me, took photos and treated me with a banana. Exihbition: 2024 The exhibition "Tail-wind". Museum and exhibition complex "Academy of Watercolor and Fine Arts of Sergey Andriaka". (Moscow)
