Artwork description:

This is the third version and second edition of my "Tempest" image.
It has been an image which has struck a cord with many and since my very first edition some years ago l've received some beautiful messages from collectors expressing their personal reasons for wanting to purchase this piece.
I think that as the world goes through some very difficult times the more relevant this image feels to me.
Originally this piece had nothing to do with Shakespeare's 'The Tempest. Although the female would've probably made a perfect Miranda.
When first creating this piece I wanted to evoke female strength and at the time I myself was going through a turbulent time. The image which kept coming to my mind was of me drowning but I want to be a victim in my own story, so I turned the helplessness around and instead of drowning I was standing strong and resolute (like all heroines!) as the stormes and waves battered around me. And so this piece was made.
Please be aware that as my work is all handmade you may find slight marks and textural anomalies in the artwork, these can all be hidden when framed.
I will be making this into a variable edition of 35. The first 3 are a blue/black, printed on specialised printmaking Zerkall paper.

Materials used:

Zerkall 170gsm and oil based ink
