Symi, also transliterated as Syme or Simi (Greek: Σύμη), is a Greek island and municipality. It is mountainous and includes the harbor town of Symi and its adjacent upper town Ano Symi, as well as several smaller localities, beaches, and areas of significance in history and mythology. Symi is part of the Rhodes regional unit.
I paint this sketch from nature in a couple of hours on the island of Symi. I sat down in the shade on the steps near the local fish restaurants, where I had a great lunch of fresh, freshly cooked fish afterwards.
I poured my heart into capturing the serene beauty of this harbor, blending impressionism and realism to evoke a peaceful, sunlit moment by the sea. The shimmering water and gentle light invite calm and joy, perfect to bring warmth and tranquility into any space. This scene celebrates the simple yet profound harmony of nature and human life.
