I love to experiment with different ways to portray still life, to find a way which brings this traditional genre into the 21st century. Here I have created semi-abstract flower heads with the use of a palette knife to introduce delicate texture resulting in a contemporary feel. The mark making is all important and the oil is worked in layers, which are then hidden and revealed. I wanted to achieve an image that is somewhat ethereal, there but not there, something you can see but not grasp, like a cloud.

This painting is sold unframed but is suitable to do so should you wish. I do not varnish my paintings , as I prefer the slightly chalky look of the oils as laid down. If you would like it varnished before sending, I can do so at no extra cost.

The painting is signed, dated and titled on the reverse and initialled on the front.
