A large reduction linocut of some oilseed rape flowers against a stormy sky.
When my godmother Alice saw this piece in production, she told me that when I was little I used to call these acres of bright yellow blooms 'Sunshine Fields'! I have no recollection of this at all, but I have clearly been captivated by these luminous flowers from a young age.
Alice will be really pleased when she notices the title of this linocut...
A reduction print is a relief print formed with layers of colour that are cut and printed from the same block, in this case, from lino. This is one of a small edition of prints, all of which are printed by hand so small variations occur between them making each one truly original.
