Summer Sun at Glimps Holm was created on a tiny, uninhabited island edged by a long, lazy beach of golden sand. Lying at the entrance to Scapa Flow — a stretch of deep water that forms a natural harbour among the Orkney islands — this place feels open, elemental, and quietly expansive.

On this summer day, clouds drifted lightly across a blue sky, their movement mirrored in the sunlit water below. Small islands rose from the sea like resting seals, and the air felt clear and pure, carrying a sense of ease and space. The scene held a gentle rhythm, shaped by light, tide, and passing cloud rather than by detail.

The image was made using intentional camera movement, allowing the landscape to soften into an impressionist interpretation rather than a literal view.
