Sunset 1 is part of a series of silhouette paintings based on trees.

The painting is in dots, overlaid to form the impression of a group of trees against an evening sky. It is somewhere between impressionism and pointillism. I really enjoyed creating this painting. it is a perfect balance of reality and pattern. I also loved working with such warm colours.

It is painted in acrylic with some black pen for small branches and texture. It has a layer of silk varnish to keep the colours bright. It comes complete with a white mount and backboard. It takes a regular 16 x 20 inch frame which is available anywhere, I have shown it in a black frame as I think this suits the painting.
