This piece is one of my brightest and most playful explorations of color and form.
I loved letting the watercolor pigments bloom freely, allowing the cactus to take on a whimsical, almost dream-like personality of its own.
Against the soft yellow stripes, the vibrant splashes of green, violet, red, and blue feel especially alive—like a plant basking in warm morning light.
The artwork is created on Fabriano A3 (29.7 × 42 cm), 300gsm watercolour paper, using artist-quality Winsor & Newton watercolours.
To me, this piece celebrates spontaneity, joy, and the beauty of letting things grow in unexpected ways.
