Sunday Morning, East Corinth
Francois de Melogue
2023 | Archival pigment print on archival satin photo paper | 17x25
The East Corinth Congregational Church stands in white clapboard against a hillside that has gone entirely to flame. The maples have turned a deep arterial red, the birches a cold yellow, the whole slope burning in layers behind the sharp white steeple and its teal metal roof. The overcast sky flattens the light, removes shadows, and lets the color carry everything. A weathervane sits at the very top of the steeple, perfectly still.
In the foreground, a white wooden fence follows the slow curve of the meadow, the grass holding its deep October green before the cold takes it for good. The gravel road bends toward the church past a clapboard house with an American flag, past outbuildings with weathered siding and rusted trim. Nothing is moving. The village sits in the kind of quiet that comes not from emptiness but from a Sunday morning, when the business of the week has not yet resumed and the cold air holds the smell of wood smoke and wet leaves.
Quality is about longevity. I use a high-resolution Canon R5 Mark II to capture every detail of the Vermont landscape. Each piece is printed in-studio using professional-grade Canon Pro-1100 and Epson P9000 systems with archival pigment inks on natural cotton paper to create a print that will last for generations.
Print only, with a 1/4 inch wide white bordering for convenient matting and (or) framing
Unmatted (unmounted) / unframed.
