Since I was a child, I've been fascinated by Native American culture, their respect for nature and their worldview that all life is connected and deserves care. The Sundance is a sacred religious ceremony that is undertaken by one or more persons for the greater good of all, and the dancer is supported by the prayers of the whole community. Our society is being rocked by repeated acts of violence that hurt us all, so I offer this painting in the hope that we will think and pray as a community for the greater good of all. This painting began as a collage of watercolor pieces that were mounted on canvas and overpainted in acrylic and oil. It has been given a satin varnish for protection. Hanging hardware is installed.
