This piece was born from a summer in Sicily, where life moves a little slower but the colors are much louder. July there is intense, and these lemons felt like the heart of that intensity. Using a palette knife and heavy impasto, I tried to recreate the physical weight and 'zing' of the fruit as it ripened in the garden. For me, this painting isn't just a still life; it’s a memory of joy and the simple, radiant bounty of nature that greeted me under the Italian sun.
