For me, the summer is light and flowers.
I put the light on the first place, since I'm living in Scandinavia. Here we have a lot of light hours during summer, and the nature is generously sharing its wealth of colors, shapes and aromas. One has to amass all this luxury in order to withstand a rather dull winter season, when the predominating color is grey, all shapes are blurred by rain and exquisite scents of flowers are just a memory.
Peonies are gorgeous and unselfish - they are my favorite summer flowers.

I used fine oils on a beautifully textured Clairefontaine oil paper and rich impasto technique.
PS: BTW my paintings are better than their photos.

For me, the summer is light and flowers.
