This painting is a serene, lyrical interpretation of a woodland sanctuary where light and shadow weave quiet magic. Sunbeams drift through a soft canopy, their glow spilling onto a mosaic-like forest floor shimmering with turquoise, blue, copper, and gold. The interplay of light and shade creates an atmosphere of gentle mystery, as if time slows and secrets rest softly among the trees.
This original, one-of-a-kind miniature painting (30 × 30 cm) is created on a deep-edged canvas. The process begins outdoors with direct observation, sketches, and photographs, then evolves intuitively in the studio through memory and imagination. Gestural base layers are followed by richly textured impasto applied with a palette knife. Inspired by Impressionist optical mixing and traditional techniques such as scumbling and glazing, the work sits between abstraction and realism. The luminous turquoise and blue tones, combined with textured knife strokes, create a surface often likened to stained glass.
