Original artwork description
"Stridin' In"
This figurative sculpture has been created from one 12" vinyl music record - nothing has been added to the original circular material, nor removed. The label (Vera Lynn) has been retained and matte varnished. Mounted within a black painted stone block, the figure is frozen in motion (to the music?). Drawing contemporary comparisons to Pompeii with the use of stone, and the vinyl with a resemblance of solidified lava. The stone base is 12.5 x 5 x 9.5cm and has a PU leather underside to protect surfaces.
Seona's fine art practice lies in her interest in the human body, as well geology (she resides near James Hutton's Unconformity - Siccar Point - of historical geological importance), through contrasting materials and shapes.
