Stormy Sea (2021)Oil painting by Serhii Cherniakovskyi
60 x 45 x 2.4cm (unframed)
£812.3
Original artwork description
I was inspired by the feeling of being alone by the sea, standing on the rocks and watching the waves come and go. There is something grounding in that moment — the sound of water, the weight of stone beneath your feet, and the open sky above.
I wasn’t trying to paint a specific coastline. What mattered to me was the sensation: the constant movement of the ocean, the contrast between rough rocks and soft light, and the quiet presence of birds in the air. I used thick oil paint and a palette knife to keep the surface alive, allowing the texture to follow the natural rhythm of the sea.
This painting is about slowing down.
About observing, breathing, and feeling connected to nature without words.
A simple moment that stays with you.
