Original artwork description
My trip to the Kola Peninsula in 2010 to the Kolvitsa River and living in the village of Kolvitsa left the warmest memories. Despite the rather harsh conditions for plein air, especially the local midges, the mosquitoes seemed not so biting; one could escape from them under the net on the hat. The water in the river did not warm up very much in June, but the harsh nature is absolutely beautiful for the painter. In this painting, I sought to capture the serene yet rugged beauty of nature through the lens of impressionism infused with elements of realism. The textured strokes and warm palette evoke a sense of peace and grounding, as if one is sitting beside this scatter of stones, absorbed in the tranquility of the wilderness. It's an artwork that brings soothing, earthy energy into any space, filling it with the whispers of nature and an invitation to pause and appreciate the simpler elements of the world around us.
