“I was commissioned to create three cheeky piglets by a returning client, to join the life-sized Kune Kune Sitting Pig that they had previously had commissioned. The piglets were an anniversary gift, and were intended to represent his three children, with a touch of their individual personalities. I was enthusiastic about doing them, firstly because of the adorable subject, but also so that people who like the large pig but might not be able to fit it in their home or garden, or stretch to it financially, and would have something (or a choice of three somethings!) to choose from.
I love to sculpt domesticated animals, because I feel it brings people in touch with all the wonderful characteristics of these animals, and makes them more aware of their welfare. It is also fun to present a subject that people may already be familiar with in a new and personally artistic way.”
The Lying Piglet stands is sculpted liying partly on its side, resting its chin on the ground, almost as though pretending to sleep but actually watching, ready to jump up and join the fun.
Sculpting domesticated animals is something I’m passionate about, as it helps people connect with these creatures’ wonderful qualities and raises awareness of their welfare. It’s always fulfilling to bring a familiar subject to life in a fresh, artistic way.”
This bronze piglet bears Tanya’s signature and unique edition number. Your casting of the Life-sized Sitting Piglet sculpture will be personally approved and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
