Original artwork description:

This painting was born from my plein air journeys through the Carpathians — serene days spent painting beneath wide, open skies, surrounded by the hushed majesty of the mountains as spring slowly awakened the land.

One image remains vivid in my memory: smoke curling not only from the chimneys of weathered cottages, but also rising from scattered fires across the hillsides. Villagers were tending to the earth — burning fallen branches and old wood, sweeping away winter’s remnants in preparation for nature’s revival.

The sharp scent of smoke, mingled with fresh grass and damp earth, left a lasting impression — a sensory memory I poured into the canvas. Through textured impasto applied directly with my fingers, I aimed to give the painting a living, breathing surface full of rhythm and emotion.

In the distance, soft blue ridges evoke peace and timelessness, while the blossoming meadows in the foreground radiate the vibrant, untamed energy of spring.

This piece is more than a depiction of nature — it is a quiet celebration of renewal, a moment where land, people, and fire come together in harmony as life stirs once again.
