Special Sunset
I embrace the watercolour paper,
Excitement and passion,
Controlling water and pigments,
Dashing the colours,

Original expressive watercolour on Saunders Waterford rough textured 425gsm 200lb.
I used thick high quality watercolour paper using a wet on wet technique and a three colour technique of one yellow, one blue and one reddy pink from the Windsor and Newton watercolours.
I used a medium Chinese hake for applying the colour washes and a sable hair brush to blend carefully. Plus on each back wash starting with the yellow, I tip the paper downwards and then across. It becomes a repetition in the way I paint and I also mix into the same colours to achieve a tonal balance. It sometimes is harder to achieve a watercolour like this than a detailed one. I just needed to release my energy into the artwork!
All my original watercolour paintings are signed, titled and dated on the back of the artwork.
My inspiration was seeing this beautiful sunset on the Jurassic coast of Dorset.
