Original artwork description
Soul of Summer is a large semi abstract oil painting of a white deer stag in a summer meadow full of wildflowers. The stag is slightly transparent as if he is just materialising. In front of him are vibrantly coloured wild flowers seen against a row of green trees. Towards the back of the field is the suggestion of another field beyond which is in full sunlight. I like the idea that certain places can have spirits protecting them and as I walk about in England I often feel the atmospheres of different places and it intrigues me. The white hart in this painting is loosely based on deer I have seen in and around the Ashdown Forest. I nearly always see deer when I walk and I am always very happy about it. This painting is 40x40x1.5 inches with white edges. No frame needed.
