Original artwork description:

The 'Something Quick and Simple' Art Academy has many famous and surprising alumni, all capable of producing works that your competent 3 year old child could do. Not content with producing 'Black Square' comprising...er...a black square, Russian artist Kazimir Malevich went one better, after 5 years of serious thought, by coming up with the highly original 'White on White' comprising...er... two white squares. American Mark Rothko's 'colour field' paintings - take 'No 14' for example, which sells for squillions - are uncomplicated: this artist could knock one off for you while you watch a few episodes of Grey's Anatomy. Englishman Terry Frost made a highly successful career out of reproducing simple shapes he was taught in kindergarten (Red and Black Solid, Tide Up Newlyn). The SQAS genre has its place however. You just never know when you might need a collection of flattened bananas on a dark blue background to brighten up that empty space above your piano or cocktail bar.
