In this piece, I aimed to capture the amber hues of a Winter Solstice sunset, as it glowed through the forest.
The firey Cadmium Orange light across the dark sky as night falls, is a striking palette.
The painting is slightly textured and catches the light, making the colours burst and glow.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies and sea - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
The cadmium tones, are developed by layering and lifting the paint, to find previous hues and tones laid beneath, building depth, movement and highlights.
