"Soft Within" is an evocative opening piece from my Primal Bond series, a personal exploration of the diverse and adaptable nature of a woman. This series is not about the relationship between two beings, but rather an ode to the many faces a woman shows—when she needs to, and when she chooses to.
This specific work embodies the archetype of the "sheep". It captures a moment of chosen softmess, vulnerability, and tenderness. It is the woman as a healer and a sanctuary. The figures embrace in a tondo (circular) format, creating a protective 'cocoon' where they find peace with closed eyes.
I focused intensely on texture to convey this feeling. The intricate, almost hypnotic patterns in the hair and fleece—spirals and rhythmic waves—create a tactile landscape. They contrast with the smooth, serene faces, showing that even in 'softness' there is profound complexity and structure.
