Sculptural Ceramic Soda-Fired Bowl (2026) Original Clay Sculpture by Rebecca Talbot

16.51 x 10.16 x 15.24cm

£240.34

This ceramic work embraces collapse. The piece resists perfection and instead honors the unpredictability of life’s processes. Like the clay in the kiln, we are shaped by life experiences in ways we cannot fully control. The resulting form is imperfect, softened, and deeply human.

In soda firing, ceramic objects are placed in a kiln, exposed to extreme heat, and then soda is introduced, vaporizing and interacting with the surface in ways that cannot be fully controlled. The final result often includes unexpected textures, color variations, and marks from flame paths and chemical reactions.

Materials used:

ceramic, soda ash
