Smallbrook meadow, Wiltshire
A warm day in Winter,
Soft pale blue sky,
River trees full of catkins,
Coppers, gold and bronze shades,
Abundance of reeds and grasses.

Words and feelings of a recent nature reserve I explored in late February 2026 on the outskirts of Warminster town.
There is so much nature and wildlife if you look for it.
Signed on the front and back of artwork.
Certificate of authenticity.
Original impressionist watercolour on Fabriano watercolour paper 300gsm 140lb.
I wanted an ethereal soft appearance to this scene so I used a wet on wet technique, using my Chinese brush in a loose and flowing approach.
In areas I used gold watercolour paint in Windsor and Newton for the winter flora. It was a delightful nature reserve to paint and suited my painting style.

Materials used:

Cold pressed watercolour paper Fabriano 300gsm 140lb, Windsor and Newton watercolours, Chinese brushes,
