Original artwork description
One spring day, while walking to my workshop, I saw a beautiful flower: a wild hyacinth. This flower was growing in the grass and I brought it to my workshop. The plant was exquisite and had small blue flowers at the top. I was looking for a long time in which vase to put it. The glass was too big, there was no small vase. My gaze fell on the military cartridge case I was to paint for the auction. I put a flower there and it turned out very harmoniously. I started to choose the background of the still life. At first I put it on a white background, but everything was too contrasting for a delicate flower. And since the chair was black, I also tried to put a black canvas behind the flowers... And the incredible happened!!! The flowers twinkled like stars, and my makeshift vase glowed against the dark background! I quickly got to work. The work went easily and casually under the impression of nature. But when I drew, I was horrified by the semantic content... I didn't specifically plan this military weapon or background, but as if it was intended - flowers in an army sleeve on a black background... I did it. I didn't plan it. I don't know what to do next.. And I continued to draw because I already started...
When the work was completely finished, I was afraid to show it to anyone. One day, a volunteer friend came to collect paintings and sell them at an auction. She saw my still life with a flower in a military sleeve and asked for a gift for a soldier. I gave it, of course. But I was tormented by the image of bright flowers on a dark background in a bright military sleeve... And I created a new work. These are the flowers of a wild apple tree that grows by the side of the road. Now I thought I'd better take a twig for my idea. Thus begins a new series of flowers in a military sleeve.
