Title: Siren’s Song
Size: 50 × 70 × 2 cm
Materials: oil on canvas
Siren’s Song explores the hidden desires and instincts that exist beneath the surface of identity, restraint, and social expectation. Through the image of a siren emerging from the dark ocean depths, the work becomes a metaphor for the parts of ourselves we are taught to suppress — longing, sensuality, passion, vulnerability, and the need to exist freely without shame.

Historically, sirens symbolized dangerous attraction: a force so powerful it could overpower logic and self-control. In this painting, that mythology transforms into a reflection on authentic desire and emotional truth. The figure rises toward the surface as if driven by an inner call that cannot remain silent any longer. Her body, illuminated by fragments of light, appears suspended between concealment and revelation, repression and liberation.

The surrounding ocean becomes symbolic of the subconscious — deep, limitless, and impossible to fully control. Prussian blue plays a central emotional role in the work. Through layering, it transforms into near-black depths, evoking both the mystery of the sea and the intensity of hidden emotion. Reflections of light across the skin create moments of exposure and honesty within the darkness.

This work speaks about the universal human experience of hiding parts of oneself in order to remain accepted. At the same time, it is a quiet affirmation of individuality, desire, and emotional freedom. The siren’s “song” becomes a symbol of the inner voice that continues to exist even when silenced — the truth of who we are beneath expectation, fear, or performance.
