Experiencing the pandemic in the UK, made me more interested in those who endure isolation as a way of living. I decided to explore the Nenets of Siberia.
The Nenets are a nomadic indigenous group who endure living in temperatures ranging from -50°C in winter to 35°C in summer.
The portrait of this woman is in action, full of colour, liveliness, even when surrounded by layers of snow around her.
I've used graphite, watercolours and acrylics for this painting.
