A journey into the unknown.
‘Shitey Heaven’ depicts a man standing on a small cloud. His life concluded, he now finds himself in a new, unusual reality. Holding a packed suitcase, his trousers have fallen ungraciously. A Renaissance rendition of the afterlife this is not.
The painting explores the fears, hopes and ambivalence that we may have regarding our own demise. It is cloudy subject: there is no tangible, definitive answer after all. The truth may be greater or more bizarre than we anticipate, or at worst, equal to a joyfully pain-free nothing.
