-- Painting description --

‘Shinjuku Garden' is a fluid original koi painting by British artist Sian Storey, and part of an ongoing series of paintings inspired by the beauty of Japan.

A long, rectangular canvas sized at 30x100cm and 5cm depth, Sian used acrylic and spray paint to create this peaceful and tranquil painting. The colours of fresh turquoise, soothing yellow and lilac, watery green and gold work harmoniously together to create a beautiful backdrop of flora, movement and watery reflections for the fish in motion.

There are flashes of gold spray paint that catch the light with a shimmering effect.
Look closely and you’ll also see origami paper all the way from Japan pasted onto the painting.

The painting is signed by the artist Sian Storey on the front and reverse, and will be a stunning addition to your art collection.

-- Feel inspired --

Japan’s beauty is a constant source of inspiration for Sian. Considered a good luck symbol in Japan, these koi fish feature flashes of gold, as if in a shimmering Japanese pond. Spray paint mists and acrylic pools of colour add to the ethereal and fluid feel of 'Shinjuku Garden'.

This piece was directly inspired by Sian’s travels in Japan, and a visit to Shinjuku Gyoen, which is an oasis of green in the heart of Tokyo. The title itself refers to these inspiringly calm and serene gardens away from the bustle of the city.

-- How it was created --

'Shinjuku Garden' was painted in Sian Storey’s studio in leafy Hampshire early 2019. Sian paints in layers, giving the painting a sense of depth. Using acrylics and spray paint, you'll see detailed, delicate brushwork and beautiful mists of spray paint. You’ll also see Japanese origami paper pasted onto the painting.

-- This painting, your walls --

'Shinjuku Garden' will bring serenity to any living space or bedroom thanks to its soothing turquoises and hazy lilacs.

Due to the unique long, thin shape, this painting is well suited to a side wall, but works equally well hanging above a sofa or bed. Expect it to be a talking point in your home and a painting that'll bring you joy forever.

This painting comes ready to hang - you just to put need a strong nail in your wall.

-- Delivery information --

The painting will be delivered fully tracked via courier, and securely packaged in thick bubble wrap and heavy duty cardboard.
