Artwork description
Atmospheric and quietly luminous, this fine art photograph captures the River Clyde on a fog-softened day, when land and water seem to dissolve into one another. A veil of mist settles over the surface of the river, smoothing it into a mirror of pale blue and silver tones. In the distance, the lights of the shipyards glow gently through the fog — small, steady points of human presence in an otherwise hushed landscape.
The scene is minimal and expansive, shaped by stillness rather than detail. Water, sky, and horizon merge into soft layers, while reflections stretch quietly across the surface of the river. The glowing lights add a subtle warmth and narrative, hinting at industry, history, and continuity without disturbing the calm.
This image carries a strong sense of tranquillity and space. Its restrained palette and balanced composition make it ideal for living rooms, bedrooms, offices, or contemplative interiors, where it can bring a feeling of quiet focus and gentle light. It is a work that rewards slow looking — calm, meditative, and quietly powerful.
Printed at 30 x 30 inches with white border for total of 36 x 36 inches.
I photograph and print every image, I do not outsource any part of my workflow. Each canvas has been painstakingly crafted to ensure the true colours, resolution and texture are exactly as they should be.
For these special small editions of my work I use beautiful Canson Aquarelle paper which has a beautiful watercolour texture that perfectly captures the colours and the mystery in this image.
Canson are one of the oldest paper manufacturers in the world, they have been making paper and canvas for over 450 years in France. Founded in 1557 and printers to Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, Canson has the choice of many famous artists such as Picasso, Ingres, Chagal and Miro to name but a few. Canson are Eco Friendly - they purchase paper pulp only from forests managed in a sustainable way which also makes them pretty special.
