Shifting Sands, Bamburgh Castle (2026) Monoprint by Rebecca Vincent
75 x 37 x 0.1cm (unframed) / 74 x 34cm (actual image size)
£695
Original artwork description
This monotype explores the quiet beauty of Bamburgh Castle in the early morning light. I layered translucent inks to build the soft colours of the sky and their reflections in the water, gradually developing the atmosphere of the scene. I enjoyed keeping the mood calm and understated, with the castle standing out against the lighter sky.
A monotype is a one-off hand-made print, just as unique as a painting. I used rollers and dabbers to spread out ink on a smooth plastic board then made marks with a cloth and other tools. The ink was transferred to the paper using a hand-operated printing press. I built up layers of over-lapping colous by printing several times.
The paper is 75 x 37cm with a working margin to be covered with a window mount. The viewable image will then be 74 x 34cm
Supplied unmounted/unframed, rolled in a wide, strong tube. (Framed images are shown for scale and context only - frame not included.)
Materials used:
Oil-based artist quality ink on Rives BFK cotton rag paper
