These pieces feature thick encaustic paint in varying surfaces from thick textured brushstrokes to glassy smoothness.
The abstract forms in the painting are meant to provoke thought in the viewer. Ask yourself: what does this look like to me? How does it make me feel?
Encaustic paint is made from a mixture of beeswax, damar resin and pigment which is heated and applied in a molten state which hardens as it cools. The surface is richly textured and often the colors have a lot of depth to them due to the transparency of the wax.
