Sennen cove , Cornwall
Mesmerising light,
Pastel sky and violet clouds,
The turquoise ocean,
Bracken and sea grasses,
Seeing it again for that moment.
Words and feelings of a very special place that I love.
Original impressionist watercolour on rough textured watercolour paper cotton free acid free Fabriano 300 gsm 140lb.
I used a wet on wet background with my sable hair brush and applied a scrubbing technique with my bushy Chinese brush for the clouds. The ocean colours were introduced next in a gradual build up of depth which was challenging as I had to feel that I was there going back into my visual imagination. I was observing from the sand dunes and the ancient Celtic rocks and they were covered in dried ferns plus sea grasses. I was so inspired by the turquoise and the burnt sienna colour particularly. I used a pressing technique and etched out the grasses with my nail.
