This self-portrait is a moment of introspection captured through color and gesture. Rather than seeking a realistic likeness, I approached the face as a landscape of emotions, thoughts, and inner states. The fragmented strokes and vibrant layers of color reflect the complexity of identity – how a person is never only one thing, but a constellation of experiences, memories, and energies. I built the portrait through expressive, dynamic brushwork, allowing the paint to remain visible and alive on the surface. The contrasting colors – warm yellows, reds, and oranges against cooler blues and greens – create tension and movement, suggesting the shifting nature of perception and self-awareness. For me, this painting is not only a representation of my face, but a visual diary of a particular state of mind. It is about vulnerability, observation, and the ongoing process of understanding oneself through the act of painting.
