Original artwork description
This painting is one of a series of vineyard paintings done in the Mosel region of Germany near where I live. The grapes for the popular local white wine grow on these lovely vines! And, of course, Schloss or “Castle” Berg, close to the Luxembourg border, is a spectacular backdrop. The former stately home is now a 5-star hotel with an award-winning gourmet restaurant. To convey the impressiveness of the building – I have chosen the perspective of looking up at its impressive tower against the sky from among the vineyards. . I am interested in old buildings and their history and so they are often a subject of my paintings – old cottages, barns, farms and so on. This painting is one of a series of castles which I have painted.
