This serene painting is an interpretation of a forest inspired by nature. The expressive brushstrokes capture the dance of light through a canopy of leaves, cascading warmth onto a mosaic carpet of turquoise, gold and copper. Evoking the tranquillity of nature, this piece is a nostalgic view of a lovely forest, with a touch of fantasy and a sense of peace.
An original artwork, one of a kind, this painting has been created with high quality acrylic paints on deep edged canvas. I begin with observation of the place making notes and taking photographs to work from in the studio. From these beginnings I work intuitively, painting some base layers with a brush and then impasto techniques layer on layer applied with a palette knife. Harnessing optical mixing techniques employed by the impressionists and some of the methods of the old masters such as scumbling and glazing. I continue working until the painting reaches a natural conclusion. The result is a contemporary painting, which lies somewhere between abstraction and realism. The carefully laden strokes with the palette knife create an effect which has been described as similar to a stained glass window or mosaic.
For shipping within the UK the painting will be parcelled in a reinforced box and can be delivered without removing from the stretcher and ready to hang.
For overseas shipping the painting will need to be taken off the wooden stretcher and rolled in to a cardboard tube. When it arrives the painting will need to be re-stretched on to a wooden stretcher frame by a framer.
